Literary Walking Tour of Mount Auburn Cemetery (The Ticknor Society)
LIMITED TO 35 PARTICIPANTS
Please gather at the Visitor's Center, which is just inside of the main gate on the left.
On Saturday, October 19th at 1:00 pm, Ticknor Society members will be treated to a literary-themed tour of Mount Auburn Cemetery in Watertown, Mass. Mount Auburn was founded in 1831 and the 174-acre cemetery and arboretum quickly became the model for the American rural cemetery movement. It has since been listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated as a National Historic Landmark. We will have the opportunity to explore the landscape, which will be in full fall splendor, and learn about the authors, poets, and scholars who are memorialized there. Be sure to wear your walking shoes, as the cemetery is hilly and some paths are not paved. If you would like to join us, please email us at Email :ticknorinfo@gmail.com
