This recent collaborative symposium about photograph conservation addressed the fundamental question, “Does the physical photograph still matter today—as a source for teaching, learning, and scholarship—and will it matter into the future?” The event was organized by Paul Messier and Monica Bravo, and hosted by the Foundation for Advancement of Conservation at the Yale University Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage in September 2019. Participants included educators, students, curators, photographers, conservators, scholars, makers, and art dealers. Several Harvard attendees will share their takeaways.
