Joseph M. Adelman is an associate professor of history at Framingham State University. A historian of media, communication, and politics in the Atlantic World, he is currently writing a history of the post office in America. He is the author of Revolutionary Networks: The Business and Politics of Printing the News, 1763-1789, which was awarded an Honorable Mention for the 2019 St. Louis Mercantile Library Prize from the Bibliographical Society of America.
His work has been supported by a range of institutions, including the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Antiquarian Society, and the Library Company of Philadelphia. He has published widely in journals and public forums and is an elected member of the American Antiquarian Society. In addition to his teaching, he is a project coordinator for the Across America, 1776 initiative at the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture.
