Embracing Digital: The Status of Electronic Art Book Publishing (Harvard Affiliates only)
Date and Time
Location
The Fine Arts Library and the Department of History of Art and Architecture present a pop-up series of virtual events exploring the art book and its many forms.
Please join Patricia Fidler, Executive Director of the A&AePortal, Yale University Press, for a discussion about the state of digital publishing in art and architectural history. This will include an overview of YUP’s aim to create meaningful and accessible digital content, such as Josef Albers’s Interaction of Color app (2013); enhanced eBooks for online courses (e.g., Diana Kleiner’s Roman Sculpture [2014]); and the new A&AePortal, which, in addition to out-of-print and backlist titles, has begun to feature born-digital publications. We will discuss how the pandemic exposed the serious lack of digital resources in art and architectural history and the responsibility that publishers and authors have to address this.
