The keynote address at this year's Ticknor Society annual meeting will be Anne Bromer of Bromer Booksellers.The title of her address is "The Jeweled Binding at the Bottom of the Sea and Other Tales." Anne Bromer and her husband David established Bromer Booksellers, a source for rare and beautiful books, in the mid 1960s. The business moved to Copley Square in 1980, where it is still located, on the second floor of 607 Boylston Street. Anne is a graduate of Emerson College and the Graduate School of Library Science at Simmons College. In 2008 she was selected to receive the annual Alumni Achievement Award from Simmons. She is a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America, The St. Botolph Club, and The Society of Printers. Anne is the author of Strings Attached, the biography of Dorothy Abbe, who was the muse of William Addison Dwiggins, published jointly by The Boston Public Library and The Society of Printers in 2000. She also co-authored Miniature Books: 4,000 Years of Tiny Treasures, with Julian Edison. The book was published in 2007 by Harry N. Abrams in collaboration with The Grolier Club and was awarded first prize as the best gift book of the year by The Bookbuilders' Guild of New York in 2008. Most recently, Anne wrote a combined memoir and bibliography of the eleven miniature books published by her and David between 1977 and 1989 called XI LXIVMOS: Memoirs of a Bibliomidget, which was co-published by Bromer Booksellers and Heavenly Monkey in Vancouver in 2015. The Bromers live in the Back Bay and Nahant and travel widely seeking distinguished books in the book arts and fine literature.
