SUMMARY:Exhibit: Remaking History
DESCRIPTION:
Library hours

Early Printed Books: History and Craft, a Boston College history course, is taught by Professor Virginia Reinburg in conjunction with Burns Library Conservator Barbara Adams Hebard. Around the seminar table, students have the opportunity to explore the vast changes that the introduction of the printing press brought to Europe. In the conservator’s lab, students work on projects that help them understand the structure of the books. Starting with simple techniques like folding paper, the students progress to more complicated techniques, like sewing and blind tooling. This exhibit features examples of the crafts produced by students.
