# Rare Book School Summer Course Applications Opening Soon (deadline for applications: March 7th) (This announcement is different from California Rare Book School!) March 07, 2022 Expand your understanding of book history during a Rare Book School course this summer. Our five-day intensive courses on the history of manuscript, print, and digital materials will be offered online and in person at the University of Virginia and other partner institutions. Among our thirty-nine courses, we are pleased to offer several pertinent to those interested in the history of the book. The following is a sample of the breadth of the RBS offerings: — H-170: Spanish American Textual Technologies to c.1820, taught by Hortensia Calvo, Christine Hernández, and Rachel Stein (all of Tulane University) — H-185v: African American Print Cultures in the Nineteenth-Century United States, taught by Derrick R. Spires (of Cornell University) — G-85: Why Black Bibliography Matters, taught by Kinohi Nishikawa (of Princeton University) — G-75: Paper as Bibliographical Evidence, taught by Cathleen A. Baker (retired paper conservator and proprietor of The Legacy Press) Course applications will open the week of February 7th. To be considered in the first round of admissions decisions, course applications should be submitted no later than March 7th. Applications received after that date will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
