Throughout the brief history of the artists’ book, craft and concept have often seemed at odds with one another. It has only been in the last forty years or so that a “third stream” of bookmaking has developed, one in which High Craft and High Concept play equal roles in the making of a book. In this talk **Russell Maret** will explore these various ideas through an examination of his own work, as well as the books of other artists whose work is exhibited in *Materialia Lumina*.
