Poetry and photography have been brought together nearly since the very inception of photography. However, there has been very little systematic focus on its history, on how the two forms work together, on how they can be presented/read, and on how artists collaborate in this space.

The Phillips Library invites you to join collector David Solo and PEM Associate Curator Stephanie Tung in an exploration of the genre of photo-poetry: books that combine poetry with photographic images to create a new dialogue. Our program will include an introduction and discussion of the genre, a selection of historic and contemporary photo-poetic books, and a discussion and live show and tell with photographer and poet Sal Taylor-Kydd on her current work in this genre.
