 Jenny Adams is an Associate Professor of English at UMass Amherst. She holds a Ph.D. and an A.M. in English Literature from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in English Literature and French Language and Literature from UCLA. Her current research focuses on academic debt and university life in late medieval England. To this end she is working on a monograph provisionally titled “Degrees of Collateral: Books, Borrowing, and the Business of Medieval Oxford.” She has published on this topic in *The Library*, *[New College Notes](https://www.new.ox.ac.uk/sites/default/files/2019-07/11NCN2%20(2019)%20Adams%20on%20MS%20274.pdf)*, and *[Writers, Editors, and Exemplars in Medieval Texts](https://www.palgrave.com/gp/book/9783030557232)*. Her work also appears in a short, popular piece, [“The History of Student Loans Goes Back to the Middle Ages”](https://theconversation.com/the-history-of-student-loans-goes-back-to-the-middle-ages-56326) which she wrote for *The Conversation* (March 2016).
