Why was Simone Weil's essay, "The Three Sons of Noah and the History of Mediterranean Civilization", banned from the US? It has never appeared in any North American printing of the international best-seller, *Waiting for God*. Composed in April-May 1942 near the outset of the Pétain-Hitler campaign of expulsion and extermination against the Jews, what does it expose about the attitude of this reputedly saintly French militant, mystic, philosopher to the Final Solution?

Lecture sponsored by English & Creative Writing, Medieval/Renaissance Studies, History, Philosophy, Religious Studies, French, Francophone and Italian Studies.
