**Jeffrey Hamburger[](/node/15)**Taught from the collection of Books of Hours in the Houghton Library, the course will teach students how to describe and study medieval manuscripts and introduce various aspects of these richly illuminated prayer books. Special attention to the texts and images in the context of later medieval painting and piety within longer traditions of picturing prayer extending back deep into the Middle Ages.
